Never Alone - The Almighty Johnsons/ His Dark Materials Crossover

Just a short fic based on Anders and Adara’s life from a little bit before the series till somewhere in season three.

Adara is Anders’ daemon (a daemon is the idea of your sould being outside your body in an animal form, for more info just google his dark materials) who is in the form of a red fox. Her nick name is Ada.

This is based on some headcanons I have on Anders, as well as an AU about the brothers living in a world with daemons.

Never Alone

Anders knew this would happen when eventually one day, he knew he would be alone. He was always alone.

If it wasn’t for Adara, he wasn’t sure if he would have survived it.

Adara had settled into her form much later then expected. His teachers had been worried as well as Mike and Anders had begun to worry that he might have been some type of freak. Her final form didn’t come slowly either, she had just changed one day and had stopped. Telling Anders softly that she felt right, whole even.

The red fox was a perfect fit in many ways. Her beautiful red coat demanded attention, something Anders has always crazed since he was a child. She was smaller then his brother’s daemons, and even if she couldn’t beat them in strength, Adara could beat them with her cunning ways. She, like Anders, worked better in the night and the two of them would often be found wondering around the park at night, deep in thought. Adara was beautiful and intelligent and quietly cunning, all aspects of Anders that he din;t like to broadcast to the rest of the world. Her form as a red fox was perfect, and Anders believed that Adara had settled exactly when she needed to.

Things had gotten better after Adara had settled, and for a while they were content, some would say they were happy.

It changed when Anders’ mother died.
